December is always a very reflective time for me. We are coming to the end of the year and I always like to look back at my year and just reflect.
I think we can all agree on ( or maybe not) its been one hell of a crazy 2017.
Elections, Natural disasters, conflicts, harassment and the list goes on.
How do we make the world a better place? Yes that is a huge question, that I don’t have the answer to. Yesterday I was so lucky to be invited to a screening of Hostiles starring Christian Bale and Rosamund Pike (probably the best performances I have seen them do) and it’s written and directed beautifully by Scoot Cooper. It touches on forgiveness. Which of course started me thinking. I remember asking a person who had a really hard time forgiving someone, what does forgiveness mean to you? She said: “That is a good question I don’t know but, I can’t forgive this person” etc.
To me forgiveness is many things. It’s having the heart to forgive and let go. But to me a big part of the forgiveness process is actually setting yourself free . You go to your happiness and I go to mine. No matter how big or small. I have had both in my life and some have not been easy, but it is possible. Think about how it would make you feel if you didn’t have this person/situation in your life that you need to forgive or let go of. Doesn’t that feel great? So coming back to making the world a better place I think forgiveness could be a place to start.
As my mission is not to tell you what to do, but to inspire thought. Who do you need to forgive? Who or what do you want to leave in 2017 while you move forward with an open heart and free?
And PS go see this movie. It’s amazing on so many levels.
